We wish to appoint an experienced, ambitious and forward-looking Psychologist to develop and expand our current research activities.
The person appointed will join the growing psychology team delivering and developing psychology both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level at the University of Worcester.
We would welcome applications from individuals with expertise in any area of Psychology, but research specialisms and/or teaching experience in any of the following areas are particularly desirable:
• Developmental psychology;
• Educational Psychology;
• Applied Psychology;
The post holder will be required to assume research leadership in their subject, including the development of a research strategy. We would hope that the individual appointed could enhance links both internally and externally to develop and strengthen the research base in Psychology.
In addition to teaching Psychology, the post-holder may be expected to contribute to the teaching of related subjects within the Institute if appropriate. The post-holder will also be expected to supervise postgraduate research students and successful post-graduate research degree supervision is essential.
Psychological Sciences, the base for the post, forms part of the Institute of Health and Society at the University of Worcester. Other discipline areas currently include social welfare, mental health nursing, adult nursing and midwifery. Psychology is well established at the University of Worcester, particularly at undergraduate level. The BSc Psychology has over 500 students taking both single and joint honour degrees. Both the Single and Major Honours pathways are BPS accredited for GBC. In addition to the undergraduate programmes, there are a number of successful taught post-graduate courses including the BPS accredited MSc Occupational Psychology.
The psychology team have special interests in applied psychology and have a good publication record and thriving consultancy base. Strategically the team now aim to enhance their postgraduate work, developing both their postgraduate provision and their research profile.
