This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a small Occupational Psychology team within the RAF’s Personnel Strategy cell. The job incumbent will be responsible for providing occupational psychology advice and consultancy to RAF and MOD staffs, in support of current and future personnel strategy. This is to be achieved through the conduct of bespoke applied research, the exploitation and collation of external information and the application of professional knowledge. The role requires the management of research projects as well as the provision of intelligent customer capability including assisting stakeholders to exploit research findings.

The applicant must have a British Psychological Society (BPS) approved honours degree in psychology and have been awarded Graduate Basis for Chartership. They will hold a BPS accredited MSc with a minimum of 2 years relevant postgraduate experience in organisational research and advice including a demonstrable amount of survey work (see functional competencies for a C2 Psychologist at practitioner level). It is desirable for the applicant to be working towards registration with the Health Professions Council (ie undertaking the BPS Qualification in Occupational Psychology to achieve Chartered Occupational Psychologist Status); and they will be expected to undertake this training during their tenure. The applicant should be highly motivated, have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels. They should have an interest in conducting bespoke research as well as reviewing and synthesising externally derived research to inform personnel policy and strategy.
