Title: Forensic Psychologist in Training Opportunity

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne our Chartered and Registered Psychologists travel throughout the UK providing professional and impartial reports in child care proceedings, criminal trial matters and Parole Board hearings.

A vacancy has arisen for a Forensic Psychologist in Training with BPS and GBC status. An MSc in Forensic Psychology is essential for the post and the candidate should have held at least one previous position as an Assistant Psychologist. Candidates who have not completed and been awarded a Masters qualification in Applied Forensic Psychology recognised by the BPS will not be considered. In addition, candidates should be either registered on the BPS’s qualification in Forensic Psychology (Stage 2, or would be expected to register on appointment) or be undertaking an equivalent Doctorate in Forensic Psychology. This post would be of particular interest to Forensic Psychologists in Training who wish to gain experience of undertaking Forensic Psychology risk assessments with a variety of different service user groups.

The role is based in our Newcastle office but the post holder will be required to travel widely and regularly throughout the UK. This travel will include frequent overnight stays and some evening and weekend working. A high degree of autonomy is required and those interested in applying should be aware that their attendance at Court, although unlikely, may be required in the future in connection with the professional work they perform.

The post offers a salary of £19,000 per annum depending on experience, 28 days annual leave and opportunities for flexitime working. Basic hours are 37.5 per week however, due to the frequent travel commitments a degree of flexibility is required by the post-holder. The role is for a fixed term, ending on the 28th June 2013 and applicants must be available to commence employment on 2nd January 2013 if not before.

The post includes a one month probationary period. Due to the nature of the post a full enhanced CRB check will be carried out on the successful applicant.
