This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical psychologist/cognitive therapist to join a team involved in major trials in multisite psychological treatments for psychosis. The opportunity to undertake a PhD may also be available to suitable candidates. Job share and secondment may be possible.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a clinical psychologist/cognitive therapist to work within on the HTA funded FOCUS trial which seeks to evaluate cognitive therapy for people with psychosis who have not responded to Clozapine. The post is primarily responsible for providing cognitive therapy to people with psychosis in the context of this clinical trial. The post will be for a fixed term of 2 years and 10 months.

The successful applicant will either be a Clinical Psychologist, or an individual from another mental health discipline who has undertaken suitable post-qualification training in Cognitive Therapy. The successful candidate will receive further training to be able to deliver high quality formulation-based Cognitive Therapy using a specific cognitive model, utilise structured clinical supervision, and will be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and in the context of clinical trials.

Supervision for FOCUS will be provided by Professor Kingdon and a clinical psychologist in Manchester (Professor Tony Morrison and/or Paul Hutton). The post will provide excellent experience of cognitive therapy, research in psychosis, randomised controlled trials, and working in leading clinical research groups.

As the post will involve extensive travel within Southampton and Hampshire area, the ability to travel independently of the public transport system by car is important. A full driving licence is
therefore essential.

The post is based at College Keep but may also involve work at the University of Southampton.
