The Wellbeing Service is a unique and innovative primary care-level mental health service for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed. It is run as a partnership between Second Step and St Mungo’s and is based in a ‘one stop shop’ for homeless people in Bristol.
This post is an opportunity to work within a small, but dedicated team of engagement workers, volunteers and psychological therapists; committed to supporting the recovery of people who are homeless or vulnerably housed. As a team and with our partners, we work holistically with the aim of enabling homeless people to address the mental health problems which underlie often a complex range of problems. The Wellbeing service is working in new and exciting ways to engage people in recovery, to assist people to re-establish hope for living a different kind of life and support them in their efforts to move towards it. The Wellbeing service provides open access sessions; group and individual evidence based psychological therapies; centred around a recovery model.
You will be a qualified mental health professional (a clinical or counselling psychologist or other professional with specialist therapy training) interested in working with people who have complex needs and chaotic lifestyles. The post provides a rare opportunity to contribute to the development of practice based evidence and innovative service models that fit for the needs of homeless and vulnerably housed people. Experience of working with complex trauma, vulnerable adults and Drugs & Alcohol would be an advantage.
