Applied Psychologists (Cyber) |
| Employer: |
Dstl |
| Description: |
Salisbury, Portsmouth and Kent
Vacancy Reference: 23686
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) maximises the impact of science and technology on UK Defence and Security. We work with the best people with the best ideas - from small companies and world-class universities to large defence companies and even other nations. Together, we develop battle-winning technologies, based on deep and widespread research, to support UK military operations now and in the future.
Our Applied Psychologists work at the cutting edge of Defence and Security, applying the latest techniques to ensure the UK is well prepared to face new and existing threats. They have access to the widest possible range of applications providing a unique opportunity to gain experience on the newest innovations and solutions to evolving threats across both civilian and military systems. This exciting combination of applying the latest research and technology to help protect our national security means our staff are highly motivated - the results of a recent staff survey showed that 93 per cent of our employees stated the greatest benefit of working at Dstl was “interest in their work”.
As an Applied Psychologist in Dstl, you will research and develop methodologies and technologies to address complex problems in areas involving a human component, drawing specifically on social (e.g. social influence, social identity, culture) and/or cognitive psychological expertise (e.g. workload, situational awareness, decision making). Work is varied and involves application across all military domains, however, we are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience of applying psychology to cyberspace (e.g. cyber identity, gaming behaviour, on-line profiling, internet usage, and cyber influence).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing capability in Dstl with great career prospects. In addition to an interesting and rewarding role, we offer a range of benefits including flexible working hours, pension scheme, gym facilities, and generous leave allowance.
Due to the reserved nature of these posts, we are only able to accept applications from UK Nationals who are willing to satisfy UK security vetting procedures. Unfortunately we are also unable to accept applications from dual nationals.
