St Mungo’s is a voluntary organisation delivering innovative solutions to meet the housing, health and employment needs of vulnerable people across London and South East England. St Mungo’s also works with many thousands of offenders each year.
This post will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for designing and integrating creative psychological interventions into the wider operational model, as well as directly providing one-to-one and group sessions to clients and staff. This role is an opportunity to establish psychological best practice in custodial and voluntary sector settings which will be evaluated for potential future mainstreaming.
This is an exciting post that will be part of the new and innovative Daedalus Project, funded by the Mayor of London, which aims to break the cycle of offending for 15-18 year olds from six London boroughs (Croydon, Hackney, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham and Southwark). This is a real opportunity to change the lives of young people leaving Feltham Young Offenders Institute by providing a tailored and unique approach to working with young offenders in a custodial settings and post-release. You will work in partnership with Youth Offending Teams within the Local Authorities of the 6 diamond boroughs, as well as staff within the Heron unit within HMYOI Feltham, and the Offender Management Unit. You will be supported by, and be part of the wider regional Daedalus Project team and additionally by the existing infrastructure within St Mungos.
Essential
Qualifications
Doctoral level qualification in clinical/counselling psychology Chartered status with the BPS Experience of engagement of hard-to-reach clients Experience providing teaching and training to other professional groups. Experience of facilitating group supervisions. Experience of working with, and addressing issues of, diversity. Experience of working within a forensic environment
Knowledge
Practitioner level knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and at least one other model of psychological therapy and knowledge of the theoretical and evidence base for them. Knowledge of the care programme approach, and an understanding of the recovery model.
