Chartered Clinical or Forensic Psychogist |
| Employer: |
West London Mental Health NHS Trust |
| Description: |
West London Mental Health NHS Trust provides a full range of local mental health services to the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Hounslow as well as specialist forensic mental health services, including high secure services to a much wider catchment area.
Broadmoor Hospital, Berkshire Dangerous & Severe Personality Disorder (DSPD) Unit
The DSPD service is a joint initiative between the Home Office and the Department of Health. It aims to provide treatment for offenders who are considered to be dangerous as a result of severe personality disorder. Historically there have been limited provisions for such individuals and the DSPD service is undertaking pioneering work to inform the assessment and treatment required to manage the risk that this population presents.
Due to the innovative nature of DSPD, it is essential that the successful candidate is a flexible self-starter. They will require good interpersonal skills and a commitment to evidence based practice. In addition to their own clinical work, they will be contributing to the development of a pioneering national service.
Chartered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist (AfC: Specialist Psychologist) AfC Band 7 £35,258 - £43,834 p.a. 37.5 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated psychologist to join our established team of psychologists within the DSPD service for a fixed-term two-year post. The successful candidate will help to provide psychological services across the unit as needed, and will take responsibility for developing at least one aspect of the provision of psychological therapy for our patients.
The DSPD Chartered Psychologists play a leading role within the assessment and treatment of high risk (sexual and violent) personality disordered patients. Responsibilities of this post include delivering and co-ordinating therapeutic work (both on a group work and 1:1 basis) and administering assessments. This will contribute to an embryonic research base regarding working with this offender group. Multi-disciplinary team working is a feature of this position, with close liaison and joint working with nursing staff and other professionals.
Experience with working within a CBT framework is essential to this post. Furthermore we would like to hear from applicants with a particular interest in relationship skills and previous experience of working within this area (though this is not essential). You will receive supervision and significant training and development opportunities. Equally, you will be required to provide clinical supervision for others.
